Since its inception in 1961, the GHS has been involved in publishing items related to the history of Guelph. The publications have taken three forms: newsletters, journal, and books/pamphlets.
The GHS Annual Journal: “Historic Guelph”
Each year, in its journal “Historic Guelph”, the Society issues a collection of essays, usually four to six in number, on local history. One copy of Historic Guelph is included in the annual membership fee. Additional copies can be purchased for $10 each at our regular meetings, or by contacting our Publications Co-ordinator.
Books and Pamphlets
The Society has published various books and pamphlets.
Perspectives on a Century of Change (1900-2000)
A comprehensive perspective of Guelph from the turn of the century until the dawn of the new millennium, this book picks up where Leo Johnson’s “History of Guelph” left off, and more. Price: $25.00
David Allan Book – 1939: About Guelph: Its Early Days and Later, Second Edition
The re-published version of David Allan’s 1939 book “About Guelph: Its Early Days and Later” is now available for $20. The book is available for sale at the Guelph Civic Museum and the Bookshelf downtown. The book can also be purchased through the GHS at our regular meetings or through the Publications Co-ordinator.
Notices of meetings and community events, and summaries of lectures have been circulated via newsletters to members since 1973. Copies of newsletters issued from 2004 to present are available in PDF format.
