David Allan Book - About Guelph: Its Early Days and Later, Second Edition
In 1939 David Allan created and published a gift to the Guelph Public Library
- a comprehensive narrative and beautifully illustrated history of the city of
Guelph.
A descendant of one of Guelph's earliest pioneer families, David Allan
captured a bygone era in an ink and watercolor journal, enhanced with
photographs and personal anecdotes. Part memoir, part sketch book, and part
historical document, Allan's book has been lovingly preserved in the Archives of
the Guelph Public Library since 1939.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Guelph Historical Society,
David Allan's work has been reprinted in partnership with the Guelph Public
Library for a new generation of readers.
